Royalty Payments Associate

Our finance department is seeking a Distribution Associate responsible for Copyright Clearance Center’s royalty payments and post-distribution transactions, weekly payments and other core royalty distributions.

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES:

  • Identifies and resolves returned and outstanding checks by teaming with staff in Distributions, Data Systems & Services and Customer Relations.  
  • Responsible for weekly ARS payments
  • Assists with rightsholder post-distribution transactions, including voided check set up.
  • Executes redistribution events using:  Oracle Financials, the web-based distribution applications, and manual processes.
  • Reconciling General ledger to sub-ledger
  • Manages the Ownership Change in Process procedure and directs peers in other departments on action needed.
  • Develops and maintains operating metrics in relation to post-distribution transactions.  
  • Coordinates outstanding check notifications to rightsholders.  Reissues royalty payments as requested and processes non-cash transactions.  Teams with and directs staff in Distributions, Data Systems & Services, and Customer Relations to update rightsholder data.
  • Assists in the W-8/W-9 rightsholders notification processes and the updating of rightsholder tax status data in Oracle Financials. Sorts, enters and files returned tax forms.
  • Tracking and analyzing returned 1099s and 1042s
  • Enters distribution wire transfers in the Eastern Bank Treasury Connect web site.  Works with Customer Relations and Eastern Bank to set up new wire templates.
  • Coordinates, and assists with, special projects, and creates special reports such as under minimum mailings as needed.
  • Identifies, initiates, and manages process and procedure improvements.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 1-3  years accounting experience
  • Thorough understanding of Copyright Clearance Center’s rights, works and Telesales databases
  • Experience with Microsoft products, including Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with Oracle Financials
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of Financial Controls and segregation of duties
  • Initiative to develop proposals for process improvements
  • Excellent hands-on problem analysis and solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Superior attention to detail
